Inspiration is the beginning of creativity. It’s that spark that gets the fire going. For some it’s a vision, or a melody that comes to them out of thin air. For others it might manifest as a gut feeling or an urge to act.
As elusive as it may get, intuition is our connection to the source of inspiration. It’s the basis of all art. Developing our sensitivity to that intuitive sense – practising to listen and obey our muse – is the path to mastery.
After saying goodbye to his partner of 75 years, Fred was inspired to write her a song out of the blue, despite being tone deaf and not a songwriter. Soon afterwards he saw a song competition in the paper and was moved to enter. So he followed his intuition, even though it meant sending a written entry to an email competition. In the end his reward was even greater than winning the contest.
Fred’s story is a reminder that ideas are one dimension and time is the other. Inspiration demands action and if we have the courage to act confidently when our gut tells us to do so, miracles can happen.
Peace and Love.
